Sounds like the gears on the motor are bad and the motor would need to be replaced…. What you might want to try is jump DC voltage direct to the motor leads and see if it runs good in and out, if you get the same results the motor will need to be replaced…What is the Year, Make and Model of the RV??

How to fix an awning that wont extend or retract?
There will be screw that goes into the roller from the motor. You have to rotate it using a drill to make the awning extend or retract. In some cases the manual override will be near the motorhome end. There will be cap in front end which you have to remove to access the rotating hole. Make use of screw driver to remove the cap.
